Any Road
I am, if nothing else, an avid reader: for sheer pleasure, in search of solace, wisdom, understanding and of course, inspiration for new songs.
I got the idea for this song from a passage in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
Alice is talking to the cat:
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where–” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“–so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
In other words: If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will lead you there.
In 2026 there is a path with your name on it. I hope you find it.
Cheers,
Chris
