Let it be love
In my Year 12 high school exams, I only passed one subject.
Can you guess what it was?
Music.
These days, the exam I struggle with most isn’t academic — it’s the daily one about loving my neighbor as I’d like to be loved in return. Those quiet, internal battles often become fuel for the songwriter in me. In fact I seem to write a lot of songs about this very subject.
My latest release, “Let It Be Love,” was born out of that reflection. Much of the inspiration came from reading the Book of Proverbs. Each verse borrows a small image — a precious metal, a piece of coal, the change of seasons, a clay pot.
I’ve always loved the power of metaphor — how a simple image can open up an entire world of questions and ideas. I’ll let you discover your own truths within the song.
And if you’ve made it this far, please check out my beta platform — The Songwriter Workshop
It’s a creative space I’m building for songwriters, musicians, and storytellers to grow, connect, and share ideas. More to come on that very soon.
Until the next song,
Chris
