Beautiful Soul

If you haven’t heard it, check out my latest song release, Beautiful Soul.

Is there anyone among us who isn’t a little insecure?

We like to say, “No, not me, sir,” but we all know someone who is.

A few years ago, I sat down with a person of power in the music industry. I was nervous walking into the meeting, rehearsing how I might impress him so he’d hire me to write and produce songs for his label.

But I never got the chance.

We shook hands, took our seats, and for the next ten minutes he tried to impress me—listing the famous people he’d worked with, the prestigious projects he’d overseen, how much money he made, how many push-ups he could do, how long he worked each day, the degrees he’d earned, the success of his children… I could go on.

That’s when it hit me: everybody is insecure about something.

From that day on, whenever I walked into meetings like that, I just showed up as myself—warts and all.

A few days later, I started writing a song about that poor fellow. But the longer I worked on it, the more I realized the song was about me too. And the funny thing? Every friend who heard the early demo told me the song was about them as well.

Turns out… everyone is insecure about something.

If you know someone who struggles with insecurity 😉 send them the link to this song.

It took me many years to learn this, but real love—the unconditional kind—doesn’t need to be impressed by anything I do or say. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be unconditional.

Have a good one,

Cheers

Chris
