Resolutions

Hey there friends…

Have you ever made a promise to yourself — a New Year’s resolution or a vow to finally change something?

“I’ll lose weight.”

“I’ll give up social media for a month.”

“I’ll finish that dream project.”

I’ve made a whole list of those promises… and like many of us, I’ve broken more than I’ve kept.

But here’s what I’ve learned: the people who love us most don’t stop loving us when we fail.

And so this next song, Resolutions has two meanings for me. On one hand, it’s a conversation with the God of love, of new beginnings — the One who never gives up on me, despite my flaws and countless false starts. On the other hand, it’s a song for my best friend, my partner, and the mother of my two boys. This amazing woman keeps loving me through the good times and the bad, always there for me, even when things get tough. That kind of love is so rare, and I don’t ever want to take it for granted.

A Quick Note About Bandcamp 🎶

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s been supporting my music on Bandcamp. I know for many of you it’s a new and unfamiliar platform — and perhaps not quite as convenient as Spotify or Apple Music — but from a creator’s point of view, Bandcamp solves many of the challenges we face with digital streaming.

Unlike Spotify, we can upload high-quality audio files, connect directly with listeners, and actually see a fair return on our work. What a novel concept!

If you haven’t already, download the Bandcamp app. You can create your own playlists, discover incredible new artists, and stay connected to the music you love.

Artist Spotlight: Dan HannafordShine Your Light

Let me introduce you to a good friend of mine up on Bandcamp — the hardest-working singer-songwriter I know, Dan Hannaford. I had the privilege of playing guitar on one of his tracks called “Shine Your Light.” It’s the perfect name for a song that does exactly that.

Give it a listen — I think you’ll feel what I mean.

Until next song,

– Chris
