Wouldn’t It Be Nice
Hey there friends, fans and family.
‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’… is not a cover of that Beach Boys Song… far from it. It’s a song of friendship, written to someone in the early stages of recovery.
The term “I’m in recovery” tends to be associated with people struggling with drugs, alcohol, or depression. But as my friend Dave Brisbin once said, “We’re all recovering from something.”
That simple phrase stops me in my tracks.
Because the truth is, every one of us is healing from something unseen.
We might be recovering from burnout, disappointment, rejection, comparison, perfectionism, or the pressure to be endlessly productive. Some of us are recovering from creative block, fear, or the need to prove our worth.
For artists and dreamers, recovery is part of the creative process—a slow return to curiosity, joy, and presence. It’s learning to create again not from striving, but from stillness.
Maybe recovery isn’t about getting back to who we were… but discovering who we are becoming. Recovery, in this context, is not a weakness but a kind of rebirth.
There’s my little soapbox message for the day. Hope the day for you is a brighter one for it.
Cheers,
Chris
